POST HOLE DRILLING Post hole drilling is what we do! Post hole drilling in the Texas Hill Country is very difficult. Throughout the counties and cities of the texas hill country, the ground is hard, dry, and rocky. If you need post holes dug on your property for any given purpose, your options are to rent an auger style post hole digger, or rent a jackhammer to do the post hole drilling. The jackhammer will break your back and wear you out. The holes will not be sharp and therefore will require more effort in cleaning them in order to install posts, and they will require more concrete. The auger style post hole drilling device, similar in style to the ones you see at the big home improvement depot type stores - is easy to use, but will only be effective if you can take a hand held post hole drilling tool, and dig down to 18" using only that, and perhaps a rock bar. If you can not dig that hole by hand, you will not be able to dig with the auger either. The reason is simple, it is not the design of the equipment that makes it possible to do post hole drilling in the texas hill country, it is the weight you can put on the drilling tool. That rented auger can not put much more weight on the auger than what you can generate when you slam down at the ground with your hand held post hole digger.
