POST HOLES IN HARD GROUND Post holes in hard ground in and around the texas hill country can be an unnerving experience. The ground here is rocky and dry, and typically very hard! If you have a project that requires holes in hard ground like this, your best bet is to have us do the digging and drilling for you. Our hard ground post hole equipment is specially designed for this difficult task. The equipment we use has carbide tipped rock teeth on a very heavy duty spiral auger. The auger is backed by a heavy tractor and uses hydraulics for maximum leverage. The main reason we are able to drill post holes in hard ground is the weight on the auger tip. We can get up to 13,000 lbs of weight on the tip of the auger. When we are drilling post holes in hard ground with rig, the hole is usually completed within 5 to 7 minutes. Also, when deciding what size auger to have your holes in hard ground drilled with - consider that it is better to have a larger width hole than it is to have a too small of width hole drilled. Sometimes, when digging post holes in hard ground, the earth pulls the auger over a couple inches, this is a big problem if you have a 4 1/2 in. wide hole, but it is not so much of a problem if your hole is 9 in. wide. Check out our page about marking a hole for more valuable info on marking in a way that will further expedite our work digging holes in hard ground for you.
